A friend of mine recently introduced me to Veda Austin’s remarkable work in Crystallography specifically to her book ‘The Living Language of Water’ in which she draws connections between science, art and consciousness.

The image above is part of a series of photographs from her research of water charged with moonlight. I found myself truly attracted not only to the visual elements of these pictures but also to the energy they are charged with. Particularly with this last image.

Master No.6 and No.7 are inspired by Austin’s work and it’s avant garde themes except that they are physically placed within a traditional context showing that perhaps if the traditional and the contemporary are too incompatible in ideology, their pictorial qualities aren’t.
